Well folks, if you haven't noticed -- we've reached the much anticipated holiday season.  Christmas music is on in every store and Starbucks has everyone's favorite Pumpkin Spice Latte on speed dial.  With all the commotion and holiday planning, it's sometimes hard to wrap your head around anything else.  However, take a second to just breathe -- yes, that's right ... Breathe!  Now, just think.  That one second you just took of fresh air couldn't have been possible if it weren't for millions of our own family members, loved ones, brothers, sisters who rised up to defend this very ground we walk on and the fresh air we breathe each day.   Today, we celebrate those who are braver than most.  Who defended our country, day in and day out.  Some who gave their life for me and you.

At Rotary Club of Gulfport, we were priviledged to have honored men and women who are rising up and are leaders for generations to come.  From the Air National Guard Combat Rediness Training Center in Gulfport, TSgt Gregory Austin was awarded NCO of the Year 2013.  Also, MSgt Lisa Oliver was awarded Senior NCO of the Year 2013.  From the Naval Construction Battalion in Gulfport, MA1 Jeffrey Watson was awarded Sailor of the Year 2013.  Congratulations to you fine men and women on receiving such prestigious awards today.

In closing, remember this upcoming holiday, Veteran's Day, and thank an active military member or a retired service member for their courage and service.
